Camp III is established (7,400 m) – the expedition is ready to attempt the summit

The expedition of Polish Mountaineering Association to Makalu (8,463 m) has finished the preparatory period – acclimatization, rigging the ropes on the route – and is ready to attempt the summit. On September 13, in difficult snow and weather conditions a small – two-person – team established camp III (7,400 m) and spent a night there. In the following days, next teams brought more necessary equipment to “no 3” and also spent a night there, which was necessary to acclimatize (in total 7 out of 8 participants of the expedition).
Importantly, the expedition marked out a route via so-called “serac labyrinth” above camp 3 at 7,400 m and as a result, the route to the summit is wide open. It is planned to spend a night in an attack-camp at 7,600 m during the summit attempt. The attempt is to take place at the end of September or at the beginning of October, depending on the weather. On September 17, Jacek Groń left the expedition due to his condition.
