Expedition to Makalu – THEY HAVE SET THE BASE CAMP!

On September 1 the expedition of the Polish Mountaineering Association reached Barun Glacier, where at 5,600 m the base camp was set. Everything goes according to the plan; on September 3-4 they are going to start climbing.

The unification expedition of Polish Mountaineering Association to the fifth mountain of the world is organized as a part of Polish Winter Himalayan Mountaineering 2010-2015 program. Our Himalayan mountaineers plan to reach the peak without oxygen via route of the first conquerors. The last ascent in this style was done by Poles (Kopyś-Kołakowski) 22 years ago.
